Band O Rama This Week

Summary
- Honor Band Wrap-Up
- Band O Rama Information
- No Jazz Band on Wednesday
- Chili Bingo Update

Honor Band
Another year of honor band is now in the books. It was a success, once again, with some fellow music educators saying that this year's band was the best group in years.  Congratulations to the 20 members who were part of this prestigious group.  Those who participated may apply all rehearsal time to practice logs.

Band O Rama Information
Band-O-Rama is on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 7:00 PM at Carson High School, and admission is free.  Here are the details that all band students need to know:

  • Instruments must go home Tuesday after school.
  • Rehearsal begins on Wednesday morning at 7:30.  Please drop off your band students at Carson High School.  Dress in SSA.
  • Students will get rides on a bus back to school by 10:30 AM to finish out the school day.
  • Call time in the evening is 6:30 PM in full band uniform.
  • Concert begins at 7:00 PM and ends around 8:30 PM.
I need a few chaperones to help watch bands between 7:30 and 10:30 AM, and to sit in close proximity to bands during the concert.

Jazz Band
No Jazz Band this Wednesday due to Band-O-Rama.  We will have jazz band on Thursday and Friday as scheduled.

Bingo and Chili Update
Thanks to the amazing dedication from our parents in preparing for Bingo and Chili Night on March 28, we are receiving some rather generous donations from the community.  The more items we receive, the more we will earn in the biggest fundraiser of the year.  If you or somebody you know has items or services they can donate to our raffle, please contact me and I will forward your information to Kerri.

After School Sectionals
There will be no after school sectionals or rehearsals this week.  The next groups and times are as follows:
Intermediate Band Percussion Workshop: Monday, March 3 from 2:30-3:30.
Intermediate Band Rehearsal: Wednesday, March 5 from 2:30-4:00.
Solo and Ensemble Practice Session: Thursday, March 6 from 2:30-3:30 (for those scheduled to perform).

Practice Logs
Students will continue to turn in practice logs by submitting them online through a Google form. The link can be found on the front page of http://www.cmsbands.org, your student's Edmodo account, or right here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1_bEsPWAafghbYSXQlFUD6wtN6wko88YuxcDsTMe8Lxs/viewform   All band members MUST practice all their Band-O-Rama music.  Orchestra members should work on solo materials, Storm Chaser, Bach Country Fiddles, and Lackawanna Locomotive.

Once students receive their new laptops, they will have the option of submitting practice logs on their devices during the last few minutes of class on Tuesdays.  This should eliminate all excuses for why some of us aren't turning them in.  :-)
